I have come up with 2 screen designs for the Photography course which I am quite happy with.
The first one:

I was quite happy with this quite simple design. I wanted to keep the colours down and quite plain so it did not distract from the work. The response from the team was quite positive.
Steve's Feedback - In Summary
Was expecting something a little sexier.
Pointed me more in the direction of a web 2.0 feel.
Second Design:
I am extremely happy with this design. I like the contrast between the bright photograph and the quite plain background. I am happy with the secondary navigation, I think the glass like box really works for this design. I think the tabbed navigation needs working on a little. There will be a different header photograph for each page. They will be similarly simple. It would also be nice if they students could provide pictures like this to insert there!I would like formal feedback on both of these designs (via the Journal Comments).

Hi Gary,
Though originally, I too liked the simplicity of the first design, I think that the second is much closer to the mark.
You have made great use of a simple grid; the rounded corners really set the design off well.
I think that by reducing the space above the primary navigation it would give the showcase a little more room to breath.
Regarding the width, is it fixed / liquid?
Great work there - keep it up! :-)
Hi Gary,
I disagree with Shaun regarding design two needing reduced space above the primary navigation. However, I do think that the thumbnails on the showcase section have very wide spaces between them, do the thumbnails have to be square or could they not be rectangle?
The second design certainly has more impact than the first one, it has more of a photography 'feel' than the first one and suits the cause more.
I think the second design is certainly a great start and best suited for this pitch. great work!
My justification for reducing the void at the top is to give more space in the showcase area without making the user scroll; though I do feel it should be reduced slightly regardless.
The rectangular images may be one avenue to explore, though the gap between each image currently is on the large side.
Are we having a link back to the Pi Creative web site?
